Every year in the LECE Program, math teacher Mr. Flynn hosts a pi day on March 14th. This year, however, was a little bit different.
Mr. Flynn justified this change, “Due to pi day landing on Saturday, Friday the 14th, and the classes had a little more to do in order to prepare for math involving pi, we decided to host twisted pi day on 4/13 (April 13th) as opposed to 3/14 (March 14th).”
Not only was the date different, but there was an extra aspect of fun with students being able to pie other kids in the face.
Mr. Flynn explained, “This year wasn’t like any year in the past. Two of my students volunteered to take a pie in the face in front of the class from the winner of the pi day raffle. Never before have I had two students stand tall by my side and make the sacrifice that will be remembered forever.”
Jules Lehane had mixed feelings about the changes this year
“I liked that Kyle and Trevor got pied in the face. It didn’t feel like pie day because of the change of date. My class didn’t do much since there were not many pies that block.”
The 24th annual pi day was a lot of fun and a big success.
Mr. Flynn said, “I hope to continue this tradition because who doesn’t love pie?”
