After almost three long years of waiting, season two of Wednesday was finally released this year. It was split into two parts with each part being four episodes. Part one was released August 6 and part two was released on September 3.
It’s been a long time, so here is the general idea of season one. Wednesday got kicked out of her old school, and sent to Nevermore Academy, a boarding school for supernatural outcasts that her parents went to when they were younger. Wednesday meets her new roommate, the werewolf Enid, along with other Nevermore students including Ajax, Xavier, and Bianca, and the “normie” Tyler, who works at a local coffee shop. Wednesday also met the adults, including principal, Ms. Weebs, Miss Thornhill, and her psychologist ordered by the court, Dr.Kinbott.
Everything starts off normal, but soon after Wednesday was enrolled at Nevermore, she found herself involved in a murder mystery, and started getting visions, which she later discovered was a psychic ability that her mother also had. There is a killer, the hyde, and Wednesday was determined to figure out who was behind it.
After a lot of chaos, plot twists, dead ends, and death, Wednesday and her friends defeat the hyde, who turned out to be Tyler, and Tylers’ secret master, Miss Thornhill. But obviously, that wasn’t the end as season two was soon announced.
A lot of fans had many questions of what would happen next in season two, as there were many cliff-hangers, including Wednesday’s stalker, Tyler, escaping, and what will happen to Nevermore. Many of these questions were answered in the second season.
Some new things have been given positive feedback by fans. Wednesday and Enid’s friendship continues to strengthen, as we can see this season by Wednesday taking more of an interest in Enid’s life. Most fans expected this due to the two girls hugging near the end of season one. Wednesday continues to learn about her psychic abilities, and asks her mother for help. This backfires however, and Mortica steals Goody’s, Wednesday’s old spirit guide, book from Wednesday. Morticia takes the book because she believes that Wednesday is pushing her psychic abilities past their limits, which she thinks will eventually lead to Wednesday’s downfall if she continues.
There are also some new things that many fans are not pleased with because the story starts to stray away from what the main focus of the show was about. Season one was focused on Wednesday and her friends at Nevermore, but season two involves more screen time for the rest of the Addams family. With Morticia working with Bianca and the new principal, and Pugsley now attending Nevermore, the show starts to seem more like the Addam family’s story instead of Wednesday’s story. Along with the classic characters like Thing, there have been new characters added such as a new principal, Wednesday’s stalker, Enid’s new love interest, and more.
Overall, season two of Wednesday was worth the wait, and pleased many fans, including myself. It answered many questions, but also created more. WIll there be a season three? Let’s hope so.
