Mrs. Eckler’s math classroom was not just any ordinary room. Students such as Joe McDonald and Peter Brooks were a part of this difference. These students went out and bought their classroom a beta fish to keep as a pet, which they named Desmo. They did this in an effort to make math more exciting, and give the students something to look forward to.
“Desmo was the glue guy for our class. Never did anything flashy, but showed up day after day and just kept swimming. He did what had to be done. He kept the class afloat,” Peter said.
Unfortunately after only a few short weeks of living at Braintree High School, Desmo has passed away. Desmo was loved by all, and brought a smile to students’ faces.
Some classmates claimed that the cause of death was due to being placed into cold water by a student who requested to remain anonymous due to safety reasons.
Joe described, “[It was] an unfortunate accident during a routine tank cleaning.”
Rest in peace Desmo, you will be missed by all.
