After school on October 29th, Students in Stone Soup gathered together to tell scary stories and get into the halloween spirit. They decorated the scene with candles and pumpkin balloons, serving cookies and candy for all in attendance. To add to the spooky atmosphere, they turned off every light in the room, leaving the auditorium in complete darkness.
Presenters volunteered themselves, stepping up to the podium and sharing either a story, many of which from the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, and others from their own real life experiences with the paranormal. Student Ariana Kerns described her experience with the fun night.
“We did scary story telling where everyone shared books, or their own stories, or personal experiences that were scary. We just had snacks, and had fun.”
Following the stories, the group gathered around an ouija board to call upon the school spirit. Unfortunately, however, no ghosts answered their call and the event was cut short with the arrival of late buses. Overall the event was still a success.
“We had a lot more fun experiences, people shared their own experiences, and we all had a couple good laughs,” Leo Goncalves remarked.
Stone Soup showed their bountiful creativity in creating a fun holiday event for anyone at Braintree High, and setting up a spooky atmosphere within the limited setting of a school auditorium, all within an hour. While no ghostly spirits were awakened, the school spirit certainly shined brighter through Stone Soup.
