Braintree High Teachers Wear Blue

Braintree+High+Teachers+Wear+Blue
BPS Teachers posted photos on the BEA’s social media accounts to show their support for striking teachers in Newton.

On Tuesday, January 30th, members of the BEA were encouraged to wear blue to show their support for Newton educators who are currently on strike. The reason for this strike is for a contract that provides higher pay and more services in the schools.

“I am in support of the Newton teachers as they strike for better pay, working conditions and services for their students. These are important issues for all school districts. I appreciate and admire that they are taking a stand for their peers and students,” expressed Ms. Johnson, a science teacher at Braintree High.

While some BEA members showed a clear stance on the topic of the strike, others took more of a neutral approach.

Assistant Principal Mr. Delery shared, “I don’t really know enough about the situation in Newton to say really how I feel about it, I don’t know what their teachers’ working conditions are like, I don’t know what their students’ situations are like, I don’t know enough about the community. I’m part of the teachers association here, [but] I don’t feel like I know enough about the situation in Newton to say how I feel about it.”
