On Tuesday, December 12th, Boys Basketball had their opener against Newton North. The game was close throughout it with the ending of the first half 17 – 18, Newton North. There was strong and even back and forth between both teams even up till the end of the final quarter.

With less than two minutes left in the game, the Wamps were behind with a score 41 – 46. Newton North fouled and #33 took the free throws and made both, bringing the score to 43 – 46. Throughout the game there were great efforts, especially by seniors Caleb Parsons-Gomes and Theo Moore with 1:04 left in the game, able to get the ball up to #14, who was then able to make a shot getting the score to be 45 – 46. Unfortunately for Braintree, a foul was called on them and Newton North was able to make the free throws, bringing the score to 45 – 49. Then Newton North fouled and once again #33 was able to make both free throws, bringing the score to 47 – 49. It was close, but Newton North was able to seal their victory when Braintree fouled again and was able to make both free throws ending the game with a score of 47 – 51.

Despite their loss the stands were filled with Braintree support. “I don’t remember that many of us in the stands last year” Claire Joyce says, “but I feel like it will be like this the rest of the season.”
