As the Week of January 11th-17th ends, every BHS student understands that midterms are right behind the three-day weekend. Midterms begin on the Wednesday after the three-day weekend, and end on Friday, the 22nd to 24th of January. The pressure mounts as we inch ever closer towards Wednesday, yet for some students, those taking languages like French or Spanish, midterms have already begun.
“I feel like it gives us a better, reasonable workload because instead of doing everything in one day, we can do the listening and the speaking beforehand, which reduces the work in one day. Because of that, it lessens my workload and gives me less stress,” says Mason Lapierre.
Great preparation is also a huge factor in being prepared and relaxed, as Nichanard Sakunchotpanit, known as Lesley, reveals the work done in her AP Literature class.
“The stress of midterms results in everyone preparing in their own way, whether in classes or at home. Nichanard Sakunchotpanit, known as Lesley, gives us an example of how her AP Literature class prepares for the midterms, “Ms. Murphy is having us practice writing the Q1 and Q2 essays where Q1 is basically synthesis essays where you’re looking at documents and you have to synthesize sources within 15 minutes of prep time, and then you’re left with 30 minutes of writing. And then for Q2, we’re left analyzing a whole passage where we’re focusing on diction and syntax, that type of stuff, and then she’s helping us work better with our time management before midterms” says Sakunshotpanit. “We’ve been assigned two essays in a row so yeah.”
