The NFL season has come to an end this past weekend. I’m going to grade the four AFC East teams based on their performance in the regular season and also how they look in the rest of the season and also for the offseason.
New York Jets – F
The New York Jets receive a grade of F and should consider tanking for the next twenty years. They had high expectations of being a superbowl contender before the season started. The Jets finished with an abysmal 5-12 record. They have an aging NFL Hall of Fame quarterback in Aaron Rodgers who after this season looks like he should retire. His performance this year brought the whole team down. They traded for superstar wide receiver Davante Adams middle of the season but it only hurt them more. The Jets also had a bottom five defense in the entire league. The future of this team is dim because they traded all of their draft picks to become a win now team.
New England Patriots – D-
The Patriots finished with a record of 4-13. The Patriots have failed miserably and deserve a F for their play this season. The reason I am giving them a D is that they have a bright future to perform for many seasons down the road with Drake Maye and Christian Gonzalez to lead the way. Their grade would have been slightly better if they decided to do something right for once and lose a game when they needed to most. They have the number four pick in the draft. They would have had the first pick this year if they did not win against the Bills in the last week of the regular season. An hour or so after the last game the team chose to fire the first year head coach Jerod Mayo and are also looking for a new coaching staff.
Miami Dolphins – C-
The Dolphins got a C- because they did not make changes to make their team better. The team finished 8-9 this season. Last year they were a playoff team but this year they didn’t make it. This team has talented players like Tyreek Hill and Jalen Ramsey but it is not enough to make them a threat in the league. Due to their bad decision to be dead middle of the league standings they cannot make improvements on their roster through the draft.
Buffalo Bills- A
The Bills receive an A because they finished with a record of 14-3 this season and finished as the second in the AFC which gives them a playoff match up against the seventh seed Denver Broncos. They are by far the best team in the AFC East this season and could potentially be super bowl champions and dethrone the Chiefs. They have a leading MVP Candidate in Josh Allen who is a top quarterback in football this season. They traded for superstar wide receiver Amari Cooper in the middle of the season who has helped this team make a stronger push for their first super bowl in franchise history.
