The Quilter’s Guild is a growing club here at Braintree High, run by Ms.Fitzgerald, physics teacher, and alongside President Jack Fitzgerald and “Co-Captain” Sean O’Rourke. Currently the club has been creating ice scrapers with the goal of raising enough funds to purchase new sewing machines and more fabric. Having new machines and more fabric will help the club achieve their goal in making quilts together as a group and to then donate them to a shelter. Ms.Fitzgerald states her wishes for the club as “two or three made is the goal, by the end of the year, maybe more.” If you want to join in and help the Quilter’s Guild raise money and make quilts for shelters you are welcomed any time as they meet each week alternating Tuesday and Wednesdays in Ms.Fitzgeralds room of 349 as this week coming up they are holding there meeting on Wednesday. Wether you already know to sew or this would be a new beginning for you it does not matter you are still welcomed. As the student leaders of the club, Jack Fitzgerald, knew only the simple basics and Sean O’Rourke, did not know how to sew and was taught by Ms.Fitzs. Both claimed this was a fun way to let stress out after a long day of school as Sean O’Rourke said, “I do not like this club I love this club.” If you know sewing is not for you there is still an opportunity in supporting this Braintree High club by purchasing there Ice Scrapers (pictured below) that are now on sale. They are being sold for $20 each and you can email Ms.Fitz or go to room 349 if you are interested. Thank you Ms.Fitzgerald and the Quilters Guild for letting me stop by this past week.
