Last Friday marked another achievement for the Braintree Boys Volleyball team. The Braintree team finished 8th in the volleyball rankings and were Bay State Herget League champions, once again. Their first round matchup was against 26th seeded Arlington
“We worked very hard all season to get here… to even just have one home game. For Braintree volleyball, this is the first home playoff game in 12 years,” said Junior Jo Vu.
Although the team started the game with some mistakes, the team grew into the game, winning sets 3 and 4. Round one, final score, Braintree 3, Arlington 1.
Next up in the round of 16, would be Acton-Boxborough, ranked as the 9th seed.
Braintree took set one, in dominant fashion. Acton-Boxborough hit back, winning sets 2 and 3. Braintree made a strong comeback in Set 4, but it wasn’t enough. Acton-Boxborough narrowly won the set 27-25.
Junior Kyle Huynh stated, “We were so close. As a team, we wanted to go far in the tournament, and we know the capabilities of this team shouldn’t have stopped there.”
The future is bright for volleyball in Braintree. We look forward to what this team can achieve next season.
