With flu season rearing its ugly head yet again this fall, it’s imperative to get vaccinated in order to stay safe and healthy this season.
On October 5, a family flu clinic was opened at the Cahill Auditorium in Town Hall from 9am to 1pm.
The public event allowed all ages to come and get vaccinations for themselves and their family, though children in grades 5 through 12 take priority due to their high exposure rate to the sickness.
“So October through March is usually when flu season picks up,” said Jillain Morris, a nurse issuing vaccines at the event, “October is a good season to get vaxxed.”
According to The Center For Disease Control and Prevention, hundreds of thousands are hospitalized while thousands die from flu related complications every year.
When asked why Braintree residents should come to the flu clinic, Morris responded, “Some people go to CCP, or pharmacy, but this is better. You can just come when it’s convenient for people, for people that are out and about can just stop in so you get more customers.”
This notion is backed up by patients of the clinic, who find it to be a simpler way to get vaccinated.
“I was encouraged to go because I didn’t have to make an appointment at my doctor’s office. I appreciate the simplicity and ease of coming in,” said Braintree resident Barbara Concannon.
The clinic will return next year in early October.
