The number 3. What does that mean to you? Maybe it means nothing to you, but to the Braintree High STUCO, the number 3 is the number of the representatives that the class of 2026 has this year. Each class has 4 officers, and 6 representatives. But for the class of 2026, they only have a total of 3.
“There are 7 of us,” representative Kayla Cocca explained. “I feel like we would get the job done and have a successful senior year, but we are missing 3, which is crucial to have more ideas to have a fun and enjoyable senior year, along with more hands to help out with events.”
In previous years, the class of 2026 had an average number of representatives but due to some issues, STUCO had to make some changes, leaving them with open positions. The BHS STUCO plays a role in a lot of events, such as planning out the prom, fundraisers, etc.
“STUCO has been off to a great start so far with an event like senior sunrise! Even though we only have 7 members currently, we’re managing and making the most out of this situation,” expressed STUCO 2026 president Tony Huang.
STUCO strives to work around this issue, and continues to provide fundraising events towards the class of 2026.
“So we understand that we are missing several representatives,” explained the head of student council Ms. Troy, “and we are holding an election Friday, October 10th for new representatives. We had a lot of seniors that came to the interest meetings last week.”
UPDATE: On 9/30, STUCO announced that the three new representatives for the senior class will be Shea Fitzpatrick, Abby Visser, and Maya Cheung. Because only three students turned in the paperwork for the position, there will be no election.
