The Braintree Girls Volleyball team has had a flying start to their fall season. With an exciting, young energetic group under Coach Spaulding, many players are currently excelling under the program’s leadership.
Junior Stella Lam thinks she knows the reason for the team’s strong start.
“This year, during the offseason, a lot of people did clinics, clubs, they worked harder to get better.”
Individual improvement is key to success, but a team also needs to work together in order to win.
Junior Libero Lauren Caranog stated, “We spend so much time together, like even out of volleyball, we like hanging out with each other. It’s more than just like, on the surface, a team.”
The fall season doesn’t come easy, either. For the girls, it’s a tough home game against Natick before heading to state champions Brookline next. However, it’s also a battle mentally on the court.
“Of you mess up once, the next five [plays] you’ve gotta lock in. Getting over mental blocks is really difficult, said Junior Joely Wang.
Whether it is getting over a mental block, or finding success within the season, we have no doubt they do Braintree High proud. We look forward to seeing what they can achieve the rest of the season, and into the playoffs.
