As Braintree High School draws to a close for summer break, so too is Principal Dr. Scully’s tenure—but it is not a break, as Dr. Scully prepares to begin a new chapter with the Lexington Public School system.
“It was unexpected, the superintendent of Lexington is the same superintendent from when I worked in Taunton, she contacted me and after explaining the position to me I felt that this was a good next step for me and a good opportunity for my family,” expressed Dr. Scully.
Starting July 1st, Dr. Scully will begin his new job title of Assistant Superintendent of Lexington Public Schools. As Dr. Scully’s time is coming to a close at Braintree, he reminisces on his not so typical seven years within the building.
“This is my seventh year and it is weird: I had my first year, then my second year we were out on covid, third year we came back and that year some people were hybrid. So, honestly, we started here and then everything got thrown out. Therefore, it really wasn’t till my fourth year that it felt like ok we are starting again. It is hard to believe it has been seven years.”
Even with an a-typical tenure with the Braintree Public school systems, Dr. Scully shares immense gratitude and love for his time as Braintree High School Principal.
“I have found my time here has been personally and professionally transformative. I am a different person because of the students, because of the family, and because of the staff here at Braintree High. It is a special place, it is a place with a ton of spirit…”
