On Friday February 28th the Boys Varsity Basketball team faced off against Lexington at home in the Herget gymnasium for the first round of the MIAA playoffs.
The game was very close throughout the entire game as the lead was being traded back and forth. Braintree only started to run away with the win in the fourth quarter. However Lexington did not give up, they fought hard and came back cutting the lead to eight. Then events in the Lexington student section netted the Wamps a technical foul. Cam Crook found himself on the foul line all alone for the free throws, despite all that was going on around him he made them all, moving the lead back up to double digits. The Wamps held out for the win over Lexington the final score was 79-65.
“I think the Lexington game is a good example of how they play together. Lexington played quicker than we thought and didn’t let us run everything we wanted so we had to adjust our plan,” said Coach Crook.
This year’s senior class has been playing with Coach Crook since second grade making them closer than others. Also meaning the chemistry of the team is on point, Hopefully they can keep picking each other up and have a deep run into the playoffs. Senior Captain Jared Coughlin believes that he and his guys have what it takes.
“We know what we can do, we know who we are and we’re just gonna keep playing our game,” shared Coughlin.
The boys take on Andover tonight in a sweet 16 matchup good luck Wamps!
