On Wednesday February 26th the Braintree High School Varsity hockey team faced off against Marshfield at Zapustas Arena in the first round of playoffs.
The game was very intense and close, but Braintree managed to come out on top against Marshfield ending off 4-3 in double OT. Kicking off the game with the first goal for Braintree was Dylan Curtin. Then followed by Sean Canavan and Matt Harvey each scoring during the game, tied at 3-3. Sean Canavan spoke out on how he feels on playing at the first playoff game at home.
“I feel great especially when we are playing at home because of the student section and the overall feel we have on the ice”.
The game had to come to an end with a winner and Andrew Gaffney led Braintree to come out on top scoring the 4th goal in Overtime winning it for Braintree. And then captain Joey DiMartino spoke on how the team has been performing so far this year.
“Defensively we are performing pretty well, offensively we had our struggles but we managed to succeed for the most part and make it to the playoffs and we are ready to take on Pope Francis next week,” explained DiMartino.
