It’s time for Braintree to celebrate after the announcement of three Seniors making it into the annual All State Concert.
The All State Concert is a yearly concert put on by the Massachusetts Music Educators association, with chorus, concert band, jazz band, and orchestra performances. Each year, after a grueling audition process, students from around the state are chosen. This year, Braintree has struck big with three students making it into the concert.
“I am beyond proud of what these students have accomplished. It’s really a representation of the students’ individual drive,” said Braintree High Choir Director Matthew Sawtelle.
One of the students, Constandina Olivadoti, isn’t new to the concert. This is their 3rd year being selected, being the only Braintree student in the year prior.
“I’m so looking forward to it, and I’m even more excited this year to have classmates coming along. They both worked so hard to be here and I’m so glad it worked out,” Olivadoti stated, ready for the show that takes place in late March.
The two other students welcomed to the concert are Bridgette Curran and Abigail Jackson, two very talented musicians. Curran is a student in Braintree High’s Concert Choir who has been attempting to make it into the concert for a long time. She has officially reached a long time dream.
“All State was always a goal for me because I could be recognized amongst the best singers in the state, so I worked really hard to improve and be the best singer I could all throughout high school,” Curran explained.
One of the successful students wasn’t even in the Concert Choir. Abigail Jackson tried out for the concert with very little professional singing experience, but successfully got in. Jackson is rightfully excited about entering Boston’s symphony hall for the performance.
“The venue itself has always been such an inspirational place for me because of the performances I’ve been able to watch there. To perform here means so much to me and I can’t wait” she stated.
Although the All State Concert is exciting, such an important concert would welcome nerves for anyone, but especially someone without much professional singing experience. Jackson is experiencing those nerves.
“I’m a little nervous because I’m going to be not only with the best singers in the state, but my only experience with singing is once a year at district,” she stated. Despite these nerves, Jackson has the support of friends and the fellow singers from Braintree, and has proved herself during the auditioning process.
The All State Concert is Saturday, March 29th at Boston Symphony Hall, and tickets will soon be available on their website. Those involved with the concert encourage classmates to attend in order to see the talent of kids across Massachusetts.
“Going to this Symphony Hall in Boston is truly an inspirational place in music, and this concert will feature three branches of music: choral, band, and orchestral. If you’re interested in listening to any of these, I highly suggest you come to see our talented peers in Massachusetts!” Jackson shared.
