The Braintree High Intro to Business class recently went on a field trip to the Hanover Chick-Fil-A on February 11th, 2025. Both students and teachers enjoyed the unique experience of seeing the behind the scenes of a chain restaurant with a hands-on learning experience about business operations, marketing, and franchise management.
“I really like the class. I feel like I learned a lot of valuable business related concepts, and I loved how explorative it was,” remarks current sophomore Aditi Jhamtani on her journey in the Intro to Business course.
Led by their teacher, Mr. Belmosto, who has been teaching the course for 16 years, the trip came to be unexpectedly.
“I saw an email from DECA which is a business club that is a lot of fun and we do all sorts of marketing activities so and so forth, but they sent an email around saying ‘hey reach out to your local Chick-Fil-A franchise and see if they wanna do a classroom engagement opportunity or a restaurant engagement opportunity,’ and so we chose the option to go to the restaurant and have a good time and learn about what they do.”
On the field trips the students were able to break apart into smaller groups allowing students a more one on one experience to meet with many leaders of the Chick-Fil-A franchise, such as the business owner, marketing leaders, finance leaders, and kitchen managers.
“Apart of our intro to business class was learning about operations and management and Chick-Fil-A has really good management so the background of it gave really good real world examples” stated sophomore Aditi Jhamtani as she spoke about her experience on this trip.
The experience was one to remember, and future trips seem likely.
“I envision doing this again,” says Mr. Belmosto, “It is something that I would love to try and do again cause I think most people enjoyed it and had a lot of fun and learned a lot from it.”
