Storming into November, the Braintree Girl’s volleyball team has their heads held high, as they ready themselves to play post-season volleyball for the first time in over a decade. Long-time Coach Ms. Spaulding, attributes this to a sense of community and cohesion within the team, stating,

“Biggest difference this year from last year is that I took a smaller team, I only have 13, so it makes a lot of them closer and it really is a family this year,” said Coach Spaulding.

That sense of familiarity and closeness is a big motivator for the team, which currently has a record of 11-9. They are coming off a win vs. Durfee and came out of the contest with a 3-0 win. Incredible teamwork might be part of what brought them to the tournament, but it’s not the only thing, as four year varsity player Chloe Zhong understands that each player’s experience is vital for team success.

“I’ve got an amazing captain, Frankie, and our seniors, Emma, Eirini, and Rhea, are all amazing. We all improved so much and if we didn’t have any one of them I don’t think we could have made the playoffs this year,” explains Senior Captain Chloe Zhong.

Each player is vital, not just for each play, but for the atmosphere surrounding the team, something which Chloe believes is an important part of the team’s success.

“And I think we had a really good team atmosphere, cause whenever we got down no one would get mad at each other,” says Zhong.
