Braintree High School has introduced a new healthcare class being taught by
Ms. Sanuik, current biology and forensic teacher, as this class is a part of the newly introduced pathway to the healthcare program.
There are three courses that you can take if you go down the healthcare path: intro to healthcare, human body systems, and Forensic Science. Many students who choose to take this class are thinking about going into the medical field. Having this course helps them realize if this is something they want to pursue.
“I think this class is really great if you are interested in the health sciences,” says science teacher Ms. Saniuk.
When students are in the classroom, they use real equipment that doctors, nurses, and forensic investigators use, giving them hands-on experience. One tool the students are given are phlebotomy arms, which are fake arms that students can learn and practice drawing blood from. This allows students to experience many different types of health sciences instead of just one.
“I can look into forensic science; I can look into occupational therapy or physical therapy—any type of science in this class,” says sophomore Rylee Chipman.
