From October 23rd to the 31st, Students Against Destructive Decisions, SADD, celebrated Red Ribbon Week at Braintree High School. The Red Ribbon Campaign is the largest drug-abuse prevention campaign in the United States. Other SADD groups all over the country shared the same message, spreading awareness on drugs and alcohol with an enthusiasm to live a drug free life. On Wednesday, October 24th, SADD handed out red ribbon pins at lunch as students made promises to live drug free by signing their names on a banner.
“I think it’s important that we make these promises to not drink or use drugs. They can be really dangerous”, a student who signed the banner said.
The booth, ran by SADD’s president, Callie Burchill, was a success with over a hundred signatures and many students gathering around to take photos.
“The banner practically had no space left after the third lunch,” she said. “We were able to spread a ton of awareness on living life drug free”.
